Best photoshoots in Malta
A Swedish portrait photographer in Malta
A few months into my stay in Malta, and I can truly say I have enjoyed my time here. When we first arrived here in January we had all sorts of crazy weather hail, rain, storm and I admit I might have thought silently to myself "we left Singapore for THIS"?
But I think just because we had lived 10 years in Singapore and was kind of tired of the constant humidity and hot hot hot temperatures, we quickly got to enjoy the change in weather (I know, it's a bit strange but our family loves when it rains....) and for a couple of weeks now we've had summer bliss kinda weather:).
I was thinking of doing a best of my shoots in Malta so far, I hope you enjoy the photos and the stories behind them.
Family photoshoot at Riviera Bay
The first time I visited Golden Bay/Riviera Bay was in December on a rainy, stormy day. Even thought the weather wasn't showing up from a good side, I already then knew that this will be a favourite location. And I wasn't wrong at all. There is nothing I don't like with this location, the sunsets are amazing and the backlight is gorgeous and every creative photographers dream.
Mimmi and Rikard and the cutest kids I know, Clara and Calle were the first family I photographed at Riviera Bay on a sunny afternoon just before sunset. The best time to photograph is about 30 minutes before the sun dips into the horizon, and as with any photoshoot I let the kids run the show. Clara was more interested in collecting sea shells (so cute!) but when we called for her she came and played with her parents. I'm so lucky to have gotten to photograph this gorgeous family in such a amazing location.

A Mdina photoshoot
For those that has been following me for a while now you guys now I'm a searcher for great light. Moving to Malta gave me a blank canvas to explore and with all the beautiful locations Malta has to offer I just had to try and have a photoshoot in Mdina.
So this is my first photoshoot in Mdina, I met up with Catherina and Richard. And their cute little baby girl Ella on a Sunday morning (If you are interested in why I was late and kept my dear clients waiting click HERE
I know that it may not be everyones favourite thing to get up early on a sleep in kind of day, dress nicely and meet a stranger with a camera....I get it. But you guys, rocked it! I had so much fun photographing you and I love the photographs we captured together!
My first maternity photoshoot Malta
Actually this was my first photoshoot in Malta. Period. Not just my first maternity photoshoot but my first shoot...I will forever remember this session due to that. Kristiana and Andreas being so completely and utterly in love and excited for their baby boy to join them and for the stunning sunset that completed the evening for us.
Thank you for being so awesome to photograph and huge congrats on your baby boy that now has entered the world, I know you will make awesome parents!

Funfilled Mdina familyshoot
Tomek and Mimmi, such cool parents you are! I love the way you interact with your baby girl, so much pure love. And I can't believe how fast your baby girl RUNS!
This morning was unusually busy in the alleys of Mdina, lots of people getting to and from their homes and also a bunch of tourists (and who can blame them really, such a gorgeous location) at one point there were some tourist even stopping beside us gushing over how cute Oliwia was:). Me loves me some audience, no problemo....
Thank you for meeting up with me so early on a Sunday morning, so happy you love the photos and I know you will treasure these memories forever.
A sunset maternity photoshoot
Karolina and Dawid are expecting their firs child. To actually be a tiny part of their family story blows my mind....
For this maternity photoshoot I wanted to photograph in a way that was creative and free. No pressure of any sort, just photographing in a way that makes my heart happy. Shooting for backlight photographs (even when the camera thinks you are crazy and refuses to focus), making Karolina trust me in a way to show her true self. That was my goal. And if I may say so, I think we did it.
I love when the people I photograph trusts my vision and just goes with the flow.
Best of luck on your new adventure as parents, i know you both will be awesome!

A Valletta family photo shoot
What is a round tour of testing different locations in Malta without photographing in Valletta? I agree, not much.
I admit to being an emotional person and all my sessions are very dear to me.
But when you photograph a family that the day after the shoot leaves Malta and moves back to Sweden, that is something special, for sure.
I felt I wanted to create meaningful memories from their stay in Malta and Valletta was a fun option to photograph in. A Saturday morning (oh so early for a non morning person like my but so worth it) only a few people on their way to work but almost empty unlike the buzzy Valletta during daytime.
I love these photos so much, the light this morning was AMAZING (I know I say that a lot) I love their outfits, Ingrid your little cheeky monkey, it was so much fun hanging out with you!
I'm still in the process of editing these photos but it looks very promising, don't it?
